THE PARIS NEWS Tue., Aug. 31, 1993, p.12A. 'Travis W. Gordon, 85, Rt. 1, Arthur City, died Monday, Aug. 30, at his home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct services at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sep. 1, at the Chicota Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Rose and the Rev. Bruce Burk officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The body will lie at the church from 1 p.m. until service time. Mr. Gordon was born Feb. 16, 1908, in Chicota, a son of J.T.(Tiff) and Sina Stubblefield Gordon. He attended Chicota schools and married Opal Hunter in Chicota on April 20, 1929. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He was a member of the Chicota Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon for a number of years. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Charles Gordon of Colleyville and Marion Gordon of Forest Chapel; a daughter, Elvira Pratt of Irving; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Pauline Jones of Plano, Kathryn Fry of Chicota, Phara White of Kilgore, and Margaret Love of Powderly. Pallbearers will be James Chadwick, Jimmy Vanderburg, Donald Vanderburg, Ray Davis, Jack Falls and Clarkson Sain. If desired, memorials may be made to the Chicota Baptist Church or the Forest Chapel Cemetery Association.'
