Sharon L. "Penny" Provenzano, 58, Altoona, died Saturday at Altoona Regional after an extended illness. The angels have called our beloved Penny to heaven to be with the Lord.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Eugene and Louise (Baird) Bell. She married John "Greg" Provenzano on Dec. 1, 1973, in Altoona.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Lori A. Gawan and husband, Phil; two sons: John G. Jr. and wife, Amy, and Victor S. and wife, Andrea; six grandchildren: Zachary, Nathaniel, Gianni, Sophia, Isabella and Grace; and two special friends: Cindy Matish and Sue Thoma.
Penny graduated from Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School and received her LPN certification from the Altoona Area Vo-Tech School. She was employed as an LPN for many years at Altoona Regional, and she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Penny's beautiful smile always brightened the hearts of those who knew her.
Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Anthony P. Scaglione Funeral Home, 1908 Seventh Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by Franciscan Fathers, T.O.R. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
