Melvin Jones Rowland, 87, of Paragould died Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born in Greene County, he was a retired farmer and county motor patrol operator and a member of True Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Rowland of Paragould; one son, Kenneth J. Rowland of Paragould; one daughter, Kay Harvill of Paragould; one brother, Onis Rowland of Paragould; three sisters, Wassie Beasley, Zelma Beasley and Fontrell Thurman, all of Paragould; four grandchildren, Stephen Rowland, Randa Crawford, Leslie Collier and Charlia Lamar; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Minnie Wood Rowland, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould, with Art Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Paragould.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Rowland, Johnny Thurman, Tommy Myrick, Ronnie Rowland, Rodney Nelson, Christ Lamar, Mack Crawford, Gary Don Beasley and Larry Myrick.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
