Ray H. Horst, Jr., 46, of Hummelstown, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
Born in Harrisburg on December 17, 1966, he was the son of the late Ray H. and Clara H. Miller Horst.
Ray retired from Penn Dot where he worked as a diesel mechanic and supervisor. He was passionate about anything mechanical, and spent his years after retirement as a mechanic for Sinister Custom Cycles, Dauphin. Ray was a graduate of Dauphin County Vo Tech. He was a member of the Dauphin-Middle Paxton Home Association Ambulance & Rescue. Ray was also formerly involved in the Boy Scout Troop 74 and Cub Pack 74, Hummelstown. Ray loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed camping.
He is survived by his son, Adam D. Brightbill husband of Alyssa M. Messick of Hummelstown; his daughter, Elizabeth R. Carper wife of Daniel J. of Florence, SC; his uncle, Harold G. Horst husband of Elaine Shertzer Horst of Hummelstown; his aunt, Frances Keller of Hummelstown; cousins, Crystal Miller Snyder and Anthony Snyder both of Palmyra; and many other cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 11 AM in Grand View Memorial Park, 500 North Weber Street, Annville. A visitation will be held Monday in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, from 6 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc., East Shore Shelter, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
