Funeral Services Held Saturday for Mrs. E. Voortman

Mrs. Evert Voortman, 80 died Thursday at a Sioux Center hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services were hold at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Reformed Church The Rev. Richard B. DeRidder officiated. Burial was in the Sioux Center Cemetery under direction of the Cooperative Funeral Home.

Mrs. Voortman, the former Hilda Wiechers, was born March 15 1866, in The Netherlands. At the age of 16, she came to the United States and she was married to Mr Voortman in 1906. They farmed near Sioux Center until retiring He died in 1960.

Survivors include eight sons Marinus and Donald, both of Sioux Center, John of Rock Rapids, Iowa. Manus and Edward, both of Chino, Calif., Fred of Winnemucca, Nev., Richard of Ontario, Calif., and Tony of Artesia Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Gerrit Kroon of Boyden, Iowa, Mrs. Jake De Boom of Chino, Mrs. Edward Ginkel of Norco, Calif., and Mrs Peter VanBeek of Bellflower Calif.; two brothers, Ring and Richard Wiechers, both of Buena Park, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Gerrit Hulstein of Bellflower; 35 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
