Obituary Gonzales Inquirer May 3, 1977

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday from the Seydler-Hill chapel for Mrs. Ada Appling, who died in the Holmes Community Hospital at 7:40 p.m. Thursday. Her death was unexpected.

The Rev. Warren Hornung, pastor of the First United Methodist church, will officiate at the services.
Burial will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Masonic Cemetery in Prairie Lea.

Mrs. Appling was born to Edward and Minnie Jackson Malloch, natives respectively of Scotland and Texas, on July 14, 1900, and had lived in Prairie Lea where she was married to Leo Addison Appling. She was a member of the First United Methodist church, and had lived on St. Lawrence Street for many years. She had recently moved to 1511 North Hamilton.

Survivors are one daughter, Miss Agnes Appling of Houston; two sons, Leo A. Applings, Jr., of Corpus Christi, John A. Appling of Houston; three grandchildren, Jeanne, Helen and Bruse, three great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs, Ed (Clara) Dreyer of Gonzales.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1949.
