William G. Bechtel, of Birch Run, passed away Sunday, Dec. 26, 1976, at his residence. Age 85 years. He was born Oct. 2, 1891 in Caseville and had lived in Birch Run for 36 years moving there from Flint. He married Belle Voorhees in Saginaw May 7, 1916. She survives him. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in Clio, and was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the American Legion Buick Liberty Post No. 310, a member of the Priesthood as a teacher in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Mr. Bechtel worked for Buick Motor division for 37 years retiring in 1957.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Moored, Birch Run; Mrs. Virginia Horning, Flushing; a son, Richard Bechtel, Flushing; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frederick, Albuquerque, New Mex.; Cecil, Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Leona Kelly, Kalamazoo. A son, Jack, predeceased him in 1951. He also leaves several nieces and nephews .... burial in Flint Memorial Park....
