Wendelin was born in St. Nicholas to Joseph and Barbara (Nies) Boeckmann. On June 18, 1946 he married Ruth Botz at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Wendelin owned and operated Boeckmann Construction Company; he built quality homes with love. He was a member of St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church, where he volunteered often. Wendelin was also a member of St. Augusta Lions Club. Wendelin was strong in his faith, and taught his family to be strong in their faith. Wendelin was a mechanic, welder, and a jack of all trades. He was a colorful person; in his younger years he was a welder on a ship in Alaska, and later in his 60's he was flying ultra-light airplanes. He was never afraid of a new adventure. Wendelin loved deer hunting in Wyoming, fishing, playing cards, and gardening. Most of all he was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
