At age 14, Christopher, son of Ernest and Margaret Lindeman Miller, was taken by a war party of Shawnee and Delaware Indians and held captive for 11 years, when he was rescued by army Gen. Anthony Wayne. He spoke 4 languages and served as a spy and aide to Gen. James Wilkinson for the U.S. Army. He was promised by Gen. Wayne an independent fortune if he would return to the Indians and succeed in an offering of peace. Following the Battle of Fallen Timbers, he was involved in the signing of the Treaty of Greenville. Christopher never got his fortune because Gen. Wayne died and was buried with all his promises.
In 1799 he married Mary Walls, daughter of Gen. George Walls. Their three sons were: Christopher Wayne, Isaiah, who married Louisa Helm Miller, and James Warren Miller. His daughters were: Gilley C. Miller who married William Bethel, Mary Maria, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Catharine Ann Miller.
From 1818-1819 he served in the Kentucky House of Representatives and in the Kentucky Senate from 1822-23.
