Per Georgia Death Index: Ella BROOKS, White female, died 05 [sic] SEP 1956, aged 87 years, in Muscogee County, Georgia, as a resident of the same county, death certificate #21961.
Ella's grave is evidently not marked and is probably in the lot the step of which is marked "BROOKS," at the north end of Row 2 in the Old Section (Section 1). The only marked grave in this lot is that of William Joseph BROOKS, Jr. (09 JUL 1910-19 JUL 1910), son of Isham Washington & Lottie Cornelia (COMER) BROOKS. Isham W. is uncle to Ella's husband, so this infant is her husband's first cousin.

BROOKS // As a result of a heart attack, William Joseph BROOKS, 61, well known Columbus citizen, died suddenly Thursday morning at his residence, 1028 Fifteenth street. // Mr. BROOKS had been in declining health for several months, but his condition had not been considered serious by members of his family, and a host of friends will elarn of his untimely death with sincere regrets. // Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, W. J. BROOKS, Jr., two sisters, Mrs. J. G. DAVIS, of Columbus, and Mrs. Beulah RUSCHER of Atlanta; a brother, E. S. BROOKS of this city, also several nieces and nephews. // Funeral services will be conducted at the D. A. Striffler funeral chapel Friday monring at 10 o'clock. Dr. O. B. NEWSOM, pastor of the Eastern Heights Baptist church, will officiate and will be assisted by Rev. Herbert ETHERIDGE, pastor of East Highlands Methodist church. // The following have been requested to serve as pallbearers: Z. A. BROOKS, Wilbur BATTLEY, James MOORE, George HENLON, G. L.
