Irene Roma (Bittner) Becker, age 95, oldest child of John D. and Ella (Heins) Bittner was born on July 29th, 1917 on the home farm near Guttenberg. She died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the Guttenberg Care Center. Irene received her education from the Jolly Ridge Country School. She was united in marriage with Oakland Becker on November 7, 1935 at the St. Paul Parsonage, Guttenberg. Together they farmed for many years near Millville. Throughout her lifetime, Irene found great joy in visits and calls from family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling, collecting toothpick holders and in her younger days, dancing. She was an active member of the Clayton County Genealogy Society and was the family historian. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law, Dorothy Bittner of Guttenberg and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Ida Miller, two brothers, Lyle and John A. (Jr.) Bittner, one brother-in-law, Marion Miller, a niece, Betty Tuecke and great great great nephew Austin Benson.
