Suggested edit: Dorothy Castles Wormood, a long time resident of Anson, passed away October 4, 2007, in Fort Worth, Texas, where she had resided since April of 2002.
Born in Anson, Texas, December 21, 1912, to Sid G. and Bess Castles, she was the third of six children, and a granddaughter of pioneer Jones County families. Her maternal grandfather, C.D. Davis established Anson's first newspaper, the Texas Western, and was an early day district attorney.
Dorothy graduated from Anson High School in 1931, and attended Texas Women's College in Denton. She graduated from Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, in 1935. After graduation she taught in Anson for 10 years before moving to Odessa, where she taught until she retired.
While in Odessa she met and married Frank A. Wormood on January 26, 1946.
In 1977, Dorothy and Frank moved to Anson where she was active in the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Sunday School Class, Bible Study, and played the piano for services.
She was preceded in death by Frank her husband, who died in May of 1998, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
She is survived by her brother Sid G. Castles Jr. of Glen Rose; her niece Ann Castles Lee and husband Bill , who lovingly cared for her; other nieces and nephews and dear friend and game partner, Billie Sharpe of Fort Worth.
