It was learned here this morning that D. John C. Clapp died at his home at Whitsett at 1:30 o'clock this morning after a lingering illness with kidney trouble and a combination of diseases. He was 72 years of age. He had been very ill for some time and when the dissolution came his bedside was surrounded by his widow and two children and other loved ones. Surviving the deceased are his widow and two children, They are Mr. Ernest Clapp and Mrs Robert E. Buck, both of this city. The funeral will be held from the? late residence tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock and the remains will be brought to Greensboro, the intement being made in Greene Hill cemetery tomorrow afternoon.
Dr. Clapp was for many years a well known dentist of this county. He had a gentleness all his own and there was about him a quiet, old fashionedness dignity, modesty and distinction that copelled the recognition and respect of all and caused men to bow their heads in sorrow when they heard the news of his death.
