Lang, Barry D. 68 of Newton, MA formerly of Dartmouth passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2012, after a courageous and inspirational battle with cancer. Barry was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Oceanside, Long Island. He attended Syracuse University, where he met Janet, the love of his life. Barry and Janet were married November 23, 1966 and remained in Syracuse while Barry attended medical school at SUNY Upstate. From there, they made their way to Philadelphia where Barry completed his fellowship at Temple Hospital and Shriner's Hospital. While in Philadelphia, Barry and Janet welcomed their three children into this world and from that day forward, they were Barry's pride and joy, sponges onto which he imparted his wisdom, love and guidance. Upon moving to Dartmouth, MA, Barry went into private orthopedic practice in New Bedford. After 24 years of practice, Barry, ever the scholar, attended Southern New England School of Law. After practicing both fields for a few years, Barry gave up the practice of medicine to give all of his attention to the field of law and moved to Newton to start a medical malpractice law firm in Boston. In his later years, Barry became an avid student of Torah, Judaism and the Hebrew language. Throughout his life, Barry generously shared his knowledge, vibrancy and love with all who had the privilege to know him. Barry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet, His daughter Kiran and her husband Jeff Milunsky, his daughter Brittany and her husband Michael Smith, his son Zach, and his grandchildren, Julie, Miranda, Cody and soon to enter the family, baby boy Smith. Services held at Temple Beth Avodah, (45 Puddingstone Ln., Newton, MA) on Monday, November 5, 2012. Interment at Independent Pride of Boston Cemetery. It was Barry's wish that donations may be made to Hadassah, The Women's Zionist Organization of America Stem Cell Research, 50 West 58th Street, New York, NY 10019.
