Mrs. Barto attended schools in Canada. In 1939, Jean graduated from Eastern High School of Commerce, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. On April 19, 1947, she married Joseph Barto in St. Ann's Church in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Barto predeceased her on July 7, 2003. Following their marriage, they came to Niagara Falls, NY in 1947. For twenty-five years, Mrs. Barto worked as a secretary and later as an office manager for Reichhold Chemicals, in Niagara Falls, NY, until her retirement in 1984. Jean was a member of the Tuesday Night Bridge Club, St. Johns Senior Citizens Club and the Star Travel Club. She enjoyed reading.
Mrs. Barto is survived by one son, Michael L. (Colleen Steele) Barto of Niagara Falls, NY and was predeceased by one son, Stephen W. Barto. Jean is also survived by four grandchildren, Michelle (Anthony) Davis of Long Branch, NJ, Samuel (Kathryn) Barto of Niagara Falls, NY, Daniel (Marcey Bryant) Barto of Grand Island, NY and Alison Barto of Niagara Falls, NY; two great-grandchildren, Max and Molly Barto; one brother, R. William Bishop of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; her dear friend, Helene McNelis of Niagara Falls, NY; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was predeceased by two brothers, G. Herbert Bishop and V. Morley Bishop; and one sister, I. Eleanor Bishop.
