|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Beautiful new cemetery located behind the West Virginia State Police Academy in Institute, West Virginia.
Dedicated May 28, 2012
Donel C. Kinnard was a former Marine who did seven tours of duty in Vietnam and left the Corps to become one of the first Navy SEALs. He received the Navy Cross for his actions during the Vietnam War.
The cemetery has 360 acres and will hold 66,000 graves.
Paved roads, benches, beautiful landscaping, very nice office building. There is a wooden walking bridge which goes across a creek on the left as you enter the cemetery grounds past the office. This is the Memorial Trail. At one end of the trail is the Veteran's Memorial Wall with a fountain along the walk way. At the other end is the West Virginia State Flag.
