Gay Family Cemetery
Lincoln
Polk County
Oregon  USA

Cemetery notes and/or description:
This cemetery is somewhere out in the farmed field. An old oak tree marks where the Gay family home stood. There is a DAR marker on the side of the county road at the Polk/Yamhill county line which gives an approximate location for the burials. There are no longer any markers on the graves.

Go north from West Salem on OR. Hwy.221 (Wallace Road). At the Polk-Yamhill County line, at milepost 9.6 is a granite marker on the left (west) side of the highway about 6 feet into Yamhill County. The site of the Gay House is directly west, on a knoll with a single tree. The family burial ground was about 0.5 of a mile southwesterly in Polk County and has been destroyed by farming. It is on the George Kirby Gay DLC #58, OC #4427 {22 March 1990} (Not shown on Mission Bottom 1957-93 USGS Quad. map.) Source Oregon Burial Site Guide Polk County
