|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
In November of 1950 the City Council, in a special meeting, voted to purchase a 30 acre tract of land on the East side of town for a new city cemetery. All of the lots in Rose Hill had been sold and the city was in danger of having a shortage of burial plots. This land belonged to L. P. Richardson and was located only a short distance from Rose Hill. Mayor Jewel Campbell arranged with the bank for a loan of $11,000 to purchase the land. This new cemetery was to be called Easthaven and today there are approximately 10 acres in use. The first burial was Tom Pennington in 1952.
