Lokawei Cemetery (外國坟山) In 1905, pressure on the Pahseinjao Cemetery lead to the establishment of a new cemetery outside the French Concession in the Chinese territory.
The French Municipal Council managed the cemetery as those in France: offering grave spaces with various terms: perpetual (506 graves), 25 years (40), and 15 years (247). Expired concessions were removed and bones reburied in a collective ossuary. The same program applied to the 424 graves allotted for the French Vietnamese. Control of the cemetery eventually passed to the Shanghai Municipal Council.
In March 1951, new burials ceased. In 1959, the papers announced that all graves were being removed to Ji'an Cemetery (吉安公幕) in Qingpu (青浦), for the creation of parking. There is no proof that complete removal was done.
