|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
From the Village of Distant, Pennsylvania, at the intersection of State Route 28/66 north and Putneyville Road, also known as SR 1025, turn right onto Putneyville Road and drive for 3.67 miles into the village of Putneyville. Continue thru Putneyville, remaining on SR 1025 and drive 0.9 miles, from the Mahoning Creek Bridge, in Putneyville, to the top of the hill, on the other side out of Putneyville. This will be the intersection of SR 1025 and T931. Turn left onto T931 and drive 1.44 miles, toward Eddyville, to the intersection of T931 and SR 1010. The Church and Cemetery are straight across, at this intersection, although if the corn is high, you may only be able to see the top of the church.
Saint Marks Lutheran Church Cemetery is located in Mahoning Township, Armstrong County, just west of the Mahoning River. The tiny village of Eddyville is located in Red Bank Township, Armstrong County, just east of the Mahoning River. So the cemetery and Eddyville are right across the river from each other, but located in different townships. Many family trees on the Internet list the incorrect township for the cemetery because everybody assumes that the cemetery is located in Eddyville on the east side of the river, when it fact the cemetery is located on the west side of the river in a different township. I still think it is appropriate to list this Cemetery as "Saint Marks Lutheran Church Cemetery, Eddyville, Armstrong County" since that is the town that it is near. (Alan Saltsman)
