Cemetery notes and/or description:
Located 0.3 mile north on a right of way though private property from a point 3.5 mile WNW of Brandy Station, Virginia on State Route 685 (Auburn Road).

The Yancey Family Cemetery is the oldest known burial ground of the Yancey family in the United States. It is situated on what was a 40,000 acre land grant made in 1710 to Philemon Kavanaugh. Mr. Kavanaugh ceded 20,000 of this land to Lewis Davis Yancey at the time of his marriage to Mildred Winifred Kavanaugh, daughter of Mr. Kavanaugh. The land in no longer owned by the Yanceys but there is a right of way to the cemetery.

A request to visit the cemetery by a descendant of the Yancey family in May 2013 was denied by the current occupant of the property
