|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This is an African-American cemetery that is well maintained and continues to be in use. There are two large monuments, an office and a small mausoleum contained within its grounds. One of the large monuments is to the memory of George Washington Carver. The other one was erected by a local garden club, on which there is a plaque that reads: “The Yellow Jessamine Garden Club presents The Torch Trust Fund to the Evening Star Cemetery to sustain this torch perpetually as a memorial to its membership. October 5, 1969”. As of May 2017, all the grave markers in the cemetery were photographed and uploaded. There is a small percentage of burials without a marker and some with a marker, who obviously died before 2017, but have no death date. The office is open by appointment and messages can be left at 864-223-5628.
