|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
One of the oldest churches built over a thousand years ago, the original wooden structure built by Saxons. The first stone structure was built by the Normans about 1140 when it was dedicated to Saint Mary, a chancel added in 1220. Katherine Montacute built a tower in the church to the memory of her husband, William Earl of Salisbury, and the Black Death halted the work. Anne Danvers built the Chamberhouse in memory of her husband, Sir William, in 1530.
