According to local history, Rogers Cemetery was created for the freed slaves (and their descendants) who formerly worked on the plantation of John Rogers who, along with his half-Cherokee wife, Sarah Cordery, are buried with their descendants in nearby Rogers-Bell Cemetery.
Located off Bell Road, Rogers Cemetery does not have a sign. The only landmark is a cord hanging between two posts at the entrance near the side of the heavily wooded road. The cemetery has no real order to it and while the grass around the graves seems to be cut regularly, the cemetery is overgrown in spots. A few of the graves are broken or no longer readable.
