In 1867 the Masonic Hall was built. According to community records, E. N. Griffith was employed to oversee construction of the building. Most of the material and labor were donated. Timber came from a nearby forest, then was milled and dressed by hand at a sawmill on nearby Horn Hill. Initially, the Masons occupied the upper story of the building and the lower floor was used by the community as a school. Use of the structure that became known as Elizabeth Hall varied over the decades.
Elizabeth Hall and Cemetery were named after Elizabeth Greer Real who was the first person to be buried in the cemetery in 1868. Elizabeth Real and her husband, Edward Benjamin Franklin Real, lived in the area where he was a member of the Masonic lodge now known as Elizabeth Lodge 215 F & A M.
Circa 1960, the hall was remodeled and workers had an opportunity to inspect the construction and material used in the 1867 structure. Square nails were used, and in some areas the framing was tied securely with strips of bark. The interior was also remodeled and redecorated and drapes were hung to accentuate a chapel. In 1976, the structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with the surrounding Elizabeth Hall Cemetery being a contributing factor.
Annual Decoration Day at Elizabeth Hall Cemetery is traditionally on Mothers' Day.
