|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
"A long unused Dorsey Family burial ground is located in Valley Mede, north of Rt #40, in the second District of Howard County on what was once the estate 'Arcadia'. The plot, enclosed by a sturdy stone wall, a century ago contained four generations of Dorseys in elaborate table-top tombs. Today the graveyard is neglected and overgrown, the wall tumbling down, and the tombs to badly vandalized that scarcely a stone is unbroken. In the late 1700's Caleb Dorsey, a surveyor, who signed himself 'of Thomas' built the original frame house at 'Arcadia', which stood (in recent years covered with asbestos shingle) until a short time ago when it was demolished to make way for a housing development. Still standing slightly to the south of the burial ground is the well preserved 'Brick House on the Pike', built by a son of Caleb Dorsey of Thomas, and presently the home of Mr and Mrs Eric Lassotavitch."
