|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Approximately 1 mile south of Gordon/Bartow line on US411. Bagwell-Lewis cemetery is down a logging road which is gated and locked. The cemetery is fenced, badly overgrown, and is located close to a CSX railroad track, possibly on CSX land. In her "History of Bartow County--formerly Cass," Tribune Pub. Co., 1933, Lucy J. Cunyus cites a cemetery at Flexatile (now Funkhouser) on the old Tennessee Road. The old Flexatile mining site is across the railroad tracks and US411, approximately 8/10ths mile from this cemetery. Thus, it is the nearest known cemetery to Flexatile. It may have been known at one time as Flexatile Cemetery. It may have acquired the name Bagwell or Bagwell-Lewis by later archivists who found those names on markers there. Ref: here.
