Cemetery notes and/or description:
The American War Grave Commission had secured 600 remains of German war dead, victims of battles along the lower Rhein River, and buried them in a grave section next to the Kamp-Lintfort Community Cemetery. After the war those remains (50 of them women and 40 of them children) were re-interred in the Soldatenfriedhof in a forest on the Bundesstr. near the Kamp Cloister in a newly established War Grave Section. Several other war dead from other cemeteries and burial sites were also re-interred here. The "Waldfriedhof" was established and opened on May 16th, 1954.
7 German soldiers from WW I, 1748 Soldiers from WW II, 1 Russian war victim and several civilians are buried in this cemetery.
For every two victims there is one cross placed.
