At the east gate to the cemetery is a large plaque stating that this land was donated in memory of a child who died at the age of 8 years. The lands inside and outside the fenced area are spacious and well kept. There does not appear to be a particular church or congregation associated with this cemetery, but rather integrated community burials are encouraged. According to a written description abstracted by Sharon McKinley and Faron McKinley, the cemetery is maintained by a committee (which names are not provided here). There also exists a pictorial and history book for sale with all proceeds going toward the upkeep of the burial grounds.
The cemetery is located on Hwy-41 north of Monroeville and slightly south of Franklin. To reach this place one should begin at the Monroe County Courthouse, NW corner of the square. Follow Hwy-41 for approximately 12 miles (toward the Claiborne Lock & Dam) along a road of beautiful scenery, "S" curves and steep hills, in the Alabama River hill country. The cemetery is clearly seen on the left at the summit of a sloping hillside overlooking a valley of wilderness along the river ridge and a clear water creek.
