|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Located near downtown Marietta, Georgia, Crest Hill Cemetery is often confused with the Mountain View Park Cemetery which is across the street - between Whitlock Avenue and Polk Street. They have the same owner but are totally separate cemeteries. Mountain View Park Cemetery is a large, perpetual care cemetery. Crest Hill is smaller and not cared for on a regular basis.
Crest Hill is on Ridge Avenue between Polk Street and Maple Avenue. Internments in this cemetery began in the 1930s. Sadly, there are several dozen unmarked and unattended graves, many of which have receded back into God's earth. Dozens of older, poorly-made cement markers have crumbled, been broken, displaced, covered with earth and foliage, or have deteriorated beyond recognition, rendering the names of the deceased unreadable. Identity of these unfortunate souls may never be known.
