|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
In 1853 St. Vincent's purchase of 5 acres from Purviance (old records hard to read) & White (blessed on 19th. of May). St. Vincent's Cemetery immediately began burial of the old bodies removed from St. James. Have been told that this was land owned by Johns Hopkins and the pony (polo)? barn still exists at the site of the cemetery. It is and was the cemetery for St. Vincent de Paul's Church. Not St. James. Due to closing of St. James cemetery (paving over it), some/all bodies were moved to St. Vincent's. In 1978 (newspaper article in the Sun Baltimore Maryland dated 16th. March, it noted "due to vandalism they were going to sell St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery to Baltimore City" (Clifton Park adjoining property owner). However, that apparently did not happen as of 2008 the Archdiocese of Baltimore, 320 Cathedral Street Baltimore MD. (21201) shows as owner of the property. Current address showing for St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery is 2301 N. Rose Street Baltimore Maryland 21213 (nothing remaining of cemetery today but a pile of broken tombstones and weeds).
