Cemetery notes and/or description:
It is sometimes called Yordy after the Yordy family who settled here about 1866, according to family tradition. A Yordy Post Office was established nearby in 1875. The cemetery is also called Mulberry because of its location
in the beautiful Mulberry valley near Mulberry Creek, and is now in Mulberry Township, although that entity was not formed until October 1, 1906. Prairie Mound Cemetery was given that name by the couple who homesteaded this property, Reverend George Wilson Miller and his wife, Mary (Colerider) Miller. That is the official name it carries in the land records found at the Register of Deeds Office in the Ellsworth County Courthouse. (By Delores Young)
