Add PhotosThe cemetery was the burial spot for John Clark Young and his family from his first marriage and some extended family. This acreage was part of a parcel patented by Samuel Bonner in 16 Nov 1830 prior to Samuel's death in 7 Oct 1831. (Samuel Bonner was the father-in-law of John Clark Young). The acreage was purchased by John Clark Young from probate after Samuel Bonner died and just prior to his marriage to Jane Pressly Bonner in 1845.
Location:
The Young family cemetery was located on several acres of land in the eastern half of the SE quarter of Section 35, Township 12-N, Range 9-E in the vicinity of CR51. Only a single tombstone marker remained in recent times located near fence on cliff beside County Road 51, near Darlington, AL. County Road 51 connects Rosebud to Darlington located about 3 miles away. The area around County Road 51 is drained by Little Wolf Creek to the west and Prairie Creek to the east. The marker is believed to be part of a Young family cemetery that was destroyed when County Road 51 was built.
