Summit Hill Cemetery
Centre County, Pennsylvania, USA
At some point in its history it became affiliated with the Brethern in Christ Denomination. They had the church for some years before it transformed into Pilgrim Holiness Church. On 12 August 1943, Calvin R. and Olive B. Yeager deeded a plot of ground for the use of the Summit Hill Pilgrim Holiness Church. Finally, in the mid-20th century, it became affiliated with the Wesleyan denominations. Rev. Ray Styers was the first Wesleyan pastor. All of these denominations used the cemetery at various points in their history.
In the last fifteen years the church has undergone many expansions, including a major annex with modern restrooms, a fellowship hall, pastor's study, church office, nursery, junior church, and the parking lot. A pavilion and children's play area was added in 1999. The church is an active one. Twenty-four pastors are know to have spanned its history, from the Rev. Erkley to the Rev. Stephens who has been serving the congregation since 1985. He very kindly furnished our Society the information available to him concerning the history of the church.
Additional information was found in the Centre County Deed Book 52, p 205 and Book 178, p 577.
