Cemetery notes and/or description:
County Line Cemetery is located on the north side of State Road 4, which is also known as the County Line Road, four miles west of the town of Ashley, Indiana. It is nestled among pine and cedar trees, and is surrounded on three sides by farm fields. The first burials occurred there in 1846. One half acre of the land was donated by farmer Jacob Krum for “public burial”, and the other one half acre came from the farm of John Zimmerman. Both men are interred there.

The cemetery was walked and recorded by local historians in the 1980’s and again in 2000. The records are located at the Steuben and Dekalb County libraries. Many stones today are difficult to read as they are weather-worn, often covered with black algae, broken or missing. The last burial occurred there in 1955. The grounds are now under the care of the Salem township trustee of Steuben County, Indiana.
