1939 the current changed due to extensions of the danube harbour the last bural, the 104th, took place in the year 1940. Only 43 persons are identified, all others are "unknown" However, the last mystery is that there is one grave with the year of dead 1953.
The last grave digger, Josef Fuchs sen., looks till his dead (1996) to the cemetery. He instals to each grave an iron cross with a white figure of Jesus Christ. Josef Fuchs himself is not buried on this cemetery, he is buried in the Kaisereberdorfer Cemetery in the same Vienna district (11th).
The cemetery is now served by Josef Fuchs jun., a geatchild of the last grave digger, and the members of a local fishing union. Each year, on the fist sunday after the 2nd. November (All soul's day), the union organise a commemoration and at the end a ruft with flowers, in memeoriam of the victims, will be handed over the river. The 4 memorials, I addeted to the cemetery, are representative for all 582 buried persons. Thanks a lot to all this wounderful people!
The cemetery is a insiders' tip for tourists, if you have time to spare far off the tourist paths, visit the cemetery.
