Church of Aberlemno Cemetery
Angus  Scotland

Cemetery notes and/or description:
The ancient village of Aberlemno is situated in the county of Angus, just about 6 miles long and 5 miles wide lying on the banks of the South Esk. The small church was re-built in 1722 on the site of the Pre-Reformation church, and later re-modeled, though the building pictured here in the churchyard is that of the vestry.

The most famous historic attraction associated with the village are the Aberlemno Sculptured Stones. There are four stones; the largest stands in the churchyard and is best descrbed as a cross-slab decorated with Pictish symbols and interlaced pattern carving. Three other stones, dating from the 7th to the 9th century, stand by the roadside.
