Land for this cemetery was given by James Gilleland to Joseph Adams, Samuel Copeland, William Gilleland, James Rankin and John Morrison April 27, 1797. The cemetery was surveyed May 1891 by H. Wilson. At that time it was situated on the Isaac Seltzer Jr. farm in Highland Twp., Chester County, Pennsylvania. There are 42 numbered graves with no names listed. There are also some unnumbered, nameless slave burials.

Looking at the tree line into the cemetery, it is located West of Gum Tree, Highland Twp., Chester County, PA (Also seen looking west towards the Gum Tree Stables located on the old Gilleland farm) off of E. Friendship Church Road.
