Cemetery notes and/or description:
This cemetery is located betweem Farmer Street and Augusta Ave. in Petersburg, Virginia.
The hospital was located at the Petersburg Fairgrounds during the Civil War.
As of 2009, Mt. Olivet Church is located on this property behind the trees in the photo.
There are over 1700 Confederate graves in this cemetery. Some records are located at the Centre Hill Museum in Petersburg, Va.
The hospital was located near where the Fire Tower on Farmer Street is located.

The photo pictured says "OUR CONFEDERATE DEAD".
The cemetery is behind it, holding at least 1700 Confederate Soldiers.
All the markers are about 4X4 inch square and most of them are grown over.

In 1992 the City Manager of Petersburg, Va. told me that I could have the "Our Confederate Dead" marker to take home with me because there were no Confederate soldiers or anyone else buried here.

The Bethel Cemetery was to the right of this one and was a different cemetery. It is now covered by buildings and a basketball court.
