The Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement are a missionary congregation of women who share life in the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience within a context of community. We share common apostolic goals, remembering our Foundress Lurana White who said, "Let us have many missions small and poor, but rich in love of God, one another and all people." The sisters are involved in religious education, social welfare and community development programs, health care, pastoral, hospital and prison ministries, home visitation, adult day care, child day care and kindergartens, youth ministry, justice and peace work, and guest and retreat house ministries. In all of our life and ministry we are devoted to seeking unity of all God's people in the ecumenical spirit of the Church. The cemetery is located along the drive up the hill past the retreat house. It is arranged in 3 tiers along the long sloping hillside, and there is a memorial located at the second tier for sisters buried away from the main cemetery. The grounds are lovingly cared for and further up the mountian is the Franciscan Friars Spiritual Life Center , which contains a memorial meditation garden for the World Trade Center.
