St. Clair County
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Located in the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 33, of Township 1 North, Range 6 West, Mascoutah Township, St. Clair County, Illinois. It is east of Mascoutah, due south of the intersection of Richter Rd. and Route 177, in a field on the Roy KLINGELHOEFER farm. The cemetery was originally on the property of Friedrich REINHARDT Sr. and was later owned by the BLUM brothers John Sr. (Johannes) and J. George Sr. (Johann Georg).
The only remaining marker is the stone noting "The Family of J. G. Blum". The obelisk top of this stone has separated from the base and is lying on the ground. This cemetery is known to have contained over 50 graves and was once surrounded by a black wrought iron fence. Burial dates range from 1840 to 1934.
Several graves were removed to Mascoutah City Cemetery during the late 1940's per Mr. Roy KL1NGELHOEFER, but no records could be obtained to verify this. The graves may have been moved in 1951. To date, five of these graves have been located in the Mascoutah City Cemetery.
