Herald Coaster, December 19, 1971:

A Rosenberg man shot his wife then turned the gun on himself at their home at 1501 Louise Friday morning. Dead are Dennis Richter, 48, and his wife, Adeline, 42.

A police investigation revealed that Richter had purchased the gun 15 minutes before the shootings. A receipt for a .38 caliber pistol and six shells were found in his pocket. According to police report, Richter returned home shortly before 11 a.m. Friday and shot his wife as she was standing near the back door of the house. He then went in the back yard and shot himself twice in the chest. A police investigation revealed that Richter and his wife had been having marital problems for the past several months.

Funeral arrangements for the couple are pending with Garmany and Co.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today for Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Richter, Rosenberg residents who were victims of a murder and suicide Friday. Rev. D. Lee Muehlbrad officiated at the services held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The couple is survived by their children, Dennis, Doris, Diane, Donna, and Lynn.

Dennis Richter, 48, is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Richter of Beasley. Survivors of Adeline Richter, 42, include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Witte of Weimar, and two sisters, Mrs. Billy Carrol of Yoakum and Mrs. John Remmert of Arlington.
