Rev. Enoch Morgan was born in Alltgoch, Llanwingog, Cardiganshire, South Wales.

Enoch was the son of Morgan ap Rhydderch and Jane. Enoch had 3 siblings:

1. Thomas, 1670-unk, son Rev Jenkin Thomas 1690-1765
2. Rev. Abel, 1673-1722, m. Priscilla Powell, 2 ch
3. Esther, 1678-1754, m. David Jones, 8 ch.

After his father died his mother Jane married the widower Rev. John Griffith. (The couple had a daughter Sarah (Cooch) and son Rev Benjamin Griffith

For generations there were many preachers in this family.

Before coming to the colonies Enoch married Jane Howell in Wales. The couple had 3 children:

1. Esther, 1706-1732, m. Unk. Douglas
2. Rev. Abel Jr. 1713-1785
3. Enoch, 1719-unk

In June 1701 Rev. Enoch left Milford Haven on the James & Mary. On 8 Sept. 1701 the ship arrived in Philadelphia. The Reverend was one of the 16 who first came over from Wales to form the Welsh Tract Church. His sister Esther Jones is buried in this cemetery as is his GtUncle Rees Rhydderch.

The Welsh Tract Baptist Church was formed in 1703 when the group removed from Pennepek, (now in Philadelphia), for Iron Hill in Newark. Enoch Morgan was the 3d Pastor of this church.

In 1904 during a cemetery census of this cemetery was taken. It found the Rev'd's tombstone and the inscription was noted. A little over 100 years later when a photo census of the cemetery was taken the marker no longer was found.

In 1904 his marker read:

In memory of Rev. Enoch Morgan, late minister of the gospel at the Welsh Tract M. Morgan Rhyddarch, ministre D omeneinne since in South Wales and B. of Mr. Abel Morgan Jun. pastor of Philadephia OBYT Mch. 25 1740. His last text was John 17. He kept the faith and run his race.
