George Washington Tuley, the youngest son of Wm. and Rebekah Tuley, was born near Canton, on June 9, 1867 and departed this life very suddenly at the home of his brother, Samuel Tuley, near Canton, on Tuesday, November 12, at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 3 days. When about 14 years of age he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and entered into fellowship of the New Prospect Baptist church of which he remained a consistent and faithful member until his death. On February 2, 1916, he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Saunders. He is survived by his widow; one brother, Samuel Tuley, of Canton; two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Gruber, of Canton, and Mrs. Lizzie Gruber, of Fullerton, Calif.; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends who mourn his departure. Mr. Tuley spent his entire life in Lewis county, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was a good neighbor, an affectionate and kind brother, a devoted and faithful husband. It can be truthfully said of him that he loved his Savior, his home and his friends. "A sweet remembrance of the just shall flourish when they sleep in dust." Funeral services were conducted at Wyaconda Baptist church on November 14, at 11 a. m. by the Rev. J. P. Sansom, a former pastor, assisted by the Rev. T. Elmer Jones. Burial was in the Wyaconda cemetery. Beautiful and appropriate music was rendered by the Rev. and Mrs. T. Elmer Jones, Dave Alderton and Miss Juanita Woods. Pall bearers were Orange and Melvin Gruber, Samuel and Boyce Saunders, Wm. McDaniel and James Dewitt.
