Hope Cemetery, established in 1852, consists of 168 rolling acres and is considered a model of the rural cemetery movement. It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1997. Remains from all five of Worcester's earlier cemeteries have been moved to Hope (as all five no longer exist). A friends group, The Friends of Hope Cemetery, looks after several notable mausoleums, including the Norcross and Houghton ones. The cemetery is owned and maintained by the city of Worcester.
