This cemetery is located in Washington Township on the east side of Milton, Indiana. It is found at the intersection of South Mill Road and East Seminary St. in Milton. One can park in front of the house at 212 East Seminary St. and take the short walk across the gully bridge on South Mill Road. Turn right immediately after crossing the gully bridge and walk in the grass along the east side of the gully to the cemetery entrance, which is marked by a stone sign. This cemetery is well maintained, although either weather or vandalism has caused some damage to some of the markers. All the grave markers in the cemetery were photographed in July 2017; many of those listed were buried in the early to mid-1800's and Quaker rules may have forbade grave markers at that time.
Indiana Cemetery Locations, Volume 4, published by the Indiana Genealogical Society (April 2009), gives the primary cemetery name as Milton Cemetery #1 with alternate names of Friends Cemetery and Hicksite Cemetery.
The cemetery is listed in the Cemetery and Burial Grounds Registry of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and in the State Historical Architectural and Archaeological Research Database (SHAARD) with Cemetery Record Number CR-89-88 (Friends / Milton / Hicksite / Friends No. 1).
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) feature ID for the cemetery is 443846 (Friends Cemetery).
