Grounds open for visitation: Mon-Wed-Fri-Sat. 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Closed: Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day and in inclement weather

The entrance is on S. Central Avenue, just north of W. Greenleaf Blvd., directly across from Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery.

Established in 1871 as Compton Rural Cemetery, Woodlawn Memorial Park is among the oldest cemeteries in Los Angeles County. Prior to being officially named for the use of the settlers in the area, it was part of the Rancho San Pedro land grant. Markers for a few earlier burials have also been found.

On Mother's Day 2020 the neglected condition of this abandoned cemetery compelled volunteers to establish the non-profit organization "One Section At A Time" (OSAAT). After completing a massive cleanup, OSAAT remains on site providing public access and assisting families in: plot location; records search; commemorative services, and headstones care. In addition, OSAAT is overseeing property maintenance and lawn restoration while pursuing national historical status to ensure the preservation of this historic cemetery.
