Established 1864. David Shellenberger, Justice of Peace, was chairman of association. Over the years the cemetery has been enlarged twice. Records of the association are intact. The cemetery is situated on a steep sloping hillside, terraced and with several sets of concrete steps. See: "The Unique Legacy of Red Rock and Newport Minnesota, 1837-1989", pg 94, by M. Virginia Yelland published 1989 by the Newport Centennial Committee, at the MN Historical Society, Call No F612.W49 N484.
