Addison Chapel Cemetery

A log chapel was built in 1696 and named after Colonel John Addison who had donated the land. The church ground and cemetery now consists of 5.467 acres.
In 1919 the Washington Diocesan Convention designated the name of the church to be St. Matthew's Church of Addison Parish. The church and cemetery was deeded to the Maryland Historical Trust an Architectural Covenant in 1969. The chapel and cemetery were placed in the Registar of Historical Sites of the United States of America in 1972.
