The Galloway Cemetery is located on land originally owned by James Galloway who first appeared as a land owner on Lynches Creek in January, 1769. He later obtained several grants of land on both sides of Lynches Creek and actively supported the American Revolution during the 1770's and 1780's. The graves are basically descendants of this James Galloway and some associated families. The oldest standing grave headstones belong to the wife of a grandson of the original James Galloway, Susannah Pipkin Galloway, born 1785, died 1871 and her husband, grandson George Galloway, born 1788, died 1854. There are several unmarked graves. This cemetery is well maintained. It is contained by a low cinder block wall and is completely surrounded by trees. It is located 1.5 miles northwest of Lydia, 500 feet east of Gallowaytown Road, west of Northcutt Road, Hartsville, Darlington County, South Carolina.
